I needed a small machine that was purpose built for a specific task at hand. I needed high quality cuts, so I wanted to use Hypertherm consumables, but was taking a gamble that I would not need to purchase the Hypertherm machine. I think my gamble paid off. Total cost to build this entire machine was less than $600.
