Folks loved the first DIY CNC Machine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKmzlMvxC7I) – now let’s build one bigger and better!

Industry grade linear rails combined with a ground ball screw and a TinyG controlled should give us a more rigid and precise machine!

We’re going to use two pneumatic cylinders and a pneumatic engraving pen to see if we can use this machine to offload some of our engraving requirements from our Tormach PCNC 1100!

In Part 1, we set up the Arduino & GRBL shield. Now, let’s use inexpensive linear motion hardware (links below!) to assemble the bearings, rods and steppers into a functional CNC machine!

We welcome Bar Smith and Hannah Teagle to show us their Maslow CNC cutting machine, which comes in a $350 kit. This CNC uses an upright design to hold a 4×8 foot sheet of plywood, and is completely open source. We talk about the goals of the Maslow CNC project and what kind of big things it can make!

Find out more about the Maslow here: http://www.maslowcnc.com/
