G’day everyone,

In this video I will be going through the set up of my flood coolant system for the milling machine. This project has been in the works for quite some time. My aim is to flood the work with a coolant to help keep the cut, work and chips cool. As the mill cuts, heat builds up, which can shorted the life of end mills.

I was tempted to use a mist coolant, or fogbuster but my air compressor was not up to the task, and I did not want it running every 5 minutes.

Flood coolant systems can be expensive, are are typically used for large CNC mills, but I will try to do it on a modest budget and find a way to make it work on my mini mill.

For this video I will be using XDP 2000 Semi Synthetic Coolant.

I hope you enjoy the video.

1000 IPM Cutting 1080 STEEL! STOP Running Slow!

STOP Running SLOW… The capabilities of your tools and machines can be pushed to high gear. That’s what we’re demonstrating here by cutting 1018 STEEL at 1000 IPM. We run our tools faster than the average machine shop, and so can you. Faster run times = More parts = More Money. BOOM!

Check the capabilities of your own machines and tools before programing feeds and speeds

Trevor walks us through the process of metal 3D Printing a Titanium part on the TruPrint 2000. The ONA AV35 was used cut this part off the build plate (which was also Titanium). This part is different from previous prints because this part not designed by a human, but instead an A.I.

Beginning phase 2 of our CNC milling machine restoration. Now that our Centroid Acorn retrofit of the DynaMyte 2800 is up and running, I start focusing on some of the supporting hardware. This time around I set up the the tool height probe and configure CNC12 to use it. Then I work on replicating the original milling machine chip guards thanks to some dimensions I received from a very generous viewer, and finally, I hook up the automatic one shot lube system and run into a big problem.

My 3D printed CNC cuts steel!! I made a couple of modifications to my 3D printed CNC and now I have a way more capable machine. The original design can cut wood quite fast and reliably but with aluminium I found its limits so I decided to make it a bit slower but way more capable of cutting metals. I swapped the Nema 17 for ones with a 1:19 planetary gear ratio and swapped the GT2 belts for HTD 5M belts and now it can push the bit agains the material really hard. I tried to cut aluminium at very high speeds with flawless results which gave me the courage to try and cut steel and surprise! It cuts 1.5 mm steel like butter!!
