Here is my 1960’s Aciera F4 Milling Machine which has been converted to CNC, complete with:
Mesa 7i76E FPGA board
2 x 12Nm, 1 x 9Nm Servo stepper motors
Ballscrews on X and Y axis
Inductive Limit Switches
Probe Basic GUI
The machine has been modified over the period of about 3 months, and will inevitably continue to evolve. It has been made with reasonable quality parts and has cost around £1500 to convert.
If you have any questions about the mill or if you would like more videos explaining the conversion in greater depth then let me know in the comments. Also if you are interested in using LinuxCNC in a project of your own, checkout their Facebook group, as well as the Feral Engineer.
Cheers!
