Adding On/Off/eStop spindle control to the Vevor 3020T-DJ CNC Router/Engraver. This “hack” works with JP-3163B and JP-1482. The below machines might have different boards than referenced in this video, but this is the CNC I have… 4-Axis 3020T CNC – Parallel Port Version (This is the version I have) http://amzn.to/2s9lRL9 4-Axis 3020T CNC – USB version (NOTE: This USB version
My objective for this project is to design and build a CNC milling machine without the need for any machining of the parts. Ordinarily, building a mill requires a much bigger mill to get the axis surfaces flat and parallel.
By using aluminium tool plate (which is in theory pre-machined flat) and bolting the critical components rather than welding, it should be possible to avoid any machine work. After all, I’m building a mill because I don’t have one!
Linear rails and ball screws are the cheap Chinese 20mm style that you can find on eBay etc.

This time I mount the spindle, wire in spindle control to the CNC controller, align the machine and finally make some chips! Final part was made using a 10mm indexable insert style cutter, 20,000 RPM, 1.5mm DOC, 1400mm/m feed rate.. Enjoy! _____________________________________ DIY CNC Milling machine build. The other day I bought some engraving tools for milling Printed Circuit Boards (PCB).
As can be seen, I’ve set up an Auto zeroing system using crocodile clips on the work surface and milling tool. Once the milling tool tip comes into contact with the work piece, this triggers an input. This allows the system to zero itself and do a much more accurate reading. This is a really rough video, just basically demonstrating where I am with it, after the project has been sat idle for a couple of months. It also demonstrates why you shouldn’t use tape to secure your work piece! So the next job will be be making a special PCB holder.

Building a DIY CNC metal lathe with CNC control using Mach 3. Using steel, aluminum, bolts, nuts, and some parts from Amazon i created a 10 inch x 24 inch CNC metal lathe. Using a somewhat on the fly design of a metal lathe with a CNC controller. This video goes over the lathe build and there is a separate video (offered at the end and during the video) for the CNC drive that also covers a recap of the design of the lathe. I also thought it would be a good idea to hold a piece of aluminum I was sanding with a flap disc… It wasn’t a good idea, but a painful lesson as I almost cut off my left thumb.
NOTE: I have updated the head stock and cross slide and tool post to make it more rigid. See that new video update here: https://youtu.be/sBfbCSxcs3I
After testing and using the head stock as designed in this video the chatter is too high due to the overhang and vertical height versus rigidity of the thin steel on the rectangular tube I used for it. Look for the video here in a few weeks or subscribe and turn on notifications for an alert when it posts. I will also be releasing concentric readings and calibrate the z axis in an upcoming video as I work on fine tuning and completing setup.
Please like and subscribe. And if there is something you didn’t like please let me know and when I fix it I will thank you in my next video. This is one of my first videos and I am still learning. Thank you for watching.
