Perfectly set up with pro edge spindle tram guage .
It has to be right – or itβs not right π
CNC router spindle tramming is critical for fine pocket finishes and non tapered edges on your jobs.
this is my method which is a lot faster. screw down some MDF and fine skim a pocket as a reference surface. i use a 5mm bit with 1mm stepover. this will give a nice clean reference surface datum to your x and y axis rails.
set both guages to zero with the spindle in the middle of this pocket. now rotate spindle to read the difference. first check the vertical surface parallel to the rails and shim accordingly. then spin the guages 90 degrees to confirm the other axis. re check once everything is tightened down.
This can be done when we service your machine for you . See https://cncrouter.uk/services.htm

Hello everyone, welcome to At-Man Unlimited. This video series is on machine setup and alignment. We will walk through all the steps needed to get your machine making top notch accurate parts.
In this video we will level our machine. Proper leveling is the critical first step in any machine setup. We will first level the casting of our machine. Then move onto the table and adjust the feet of the machine to remove any twist in the casting. Last we will take some measurement data in the X and Y axis for any Abbe error.

This tool setter will allow you to set your CNC tool length offsets quickly and accurately. To use this gage, just lower the tool down on the contact face of the gage until the indicator reads 0.000. At that point, you can be confident that the tip of your tool is exactly 4.000 from the surface the gage is sitting on. This tool setter can also be used for Bridgeport style milling machines.

This video tutorial teaches you how to tram your CNC router using basic tools in your toolbox.
Tramming is making sure your CNC router spindle or trim router is square, or perpendicular to the spoilboard (or waste board) fo the CNC router table. You want to make sure your router is in tram before you cut anything, including surfacing, or flattening the spoilboard. Otherwise, you will have uneven surfaces on your cuts and on the spoil board.
A much more accurate method for trimming is to use a dial indicator. that will be shown in another video.
