The use of low wattage and small focused beams when cutting veneer allows for extremely tight patterns similar to handcrafted marquetry.
In this video, we have cut and engraved a prefinished cabinet grade birch plywood. The digital images were taken from a smartphone and processed through Kern’s KCAM software. The pre-finish allows for easy cleanup and adds value to the finished laser engraved wood product.
This system is on a 52″ x 100″ work area, using a 150 watt laser. Kern Laser Systems HSE series machines make engraving large photos a simple process.
